Today’s offering is a silver 1940 Conn 80A serial number 346xxx, and was made in Elkhart, IN. This cornet features the “Opera Glass” mechanism, which works well. The slides and valves are free and moving, and it holds 1.25 lbs. of valve pressure, meaning that it shouldn’t be very difficult to play. The Cornet includes 2 mouthpieces: a 1960’s Conn 4A, and a Duo Cup 99-D, plus a Lyre, and case. This Cornet has been run though our professional brass shop and is in playing condition. The case features the Conn seal with the latches all in working condition and a blue interior (see pictures). A Cornet of this stature would make an great piece for a collector, musician, or even just someone who likes the aesthetics of the 1940’s.
