This Martin Imperial alto saxophone was made some time in the 1970's according to its serial number (#301XXX). On most Martin serial number charts there is a big gap between the late 60's and early 80's, so determining the exact year of manufacture is difficult. This sax is in good overall condition, with all the keys working well and no signs of frozen rods or any previous major damage or repair. There is a dent in the lower back of the body, under that rear anchor for the low B/Bb guard (see pictures). The original lacquer is intact but shows wear consistent with its age. The pads are older and the horn is playable as-is, but we recommend a repad to put this instrument into top playing condition. The original case is sturdy and intact but also shows signs of age consistent wear. There are some exterior scuffs and some wear on the edging, but no damage to the wood. The latches, handle and hinges all work as they should. The interior looks good with only minimal wear. This horn will ship with a mouthpiece, cap, ligature, and strap.
